Hello! My name is Sharon Lapitsky and I am the School Counselor here at Evergreen Elementary. This is my third year at Evergreen, and I am excited to be here! I have been an elementary school teacher for 10 years before obtaining my M.A. in school counseling and becoming a licensed counselor. When I am not at school or planning my guidance lessons, I love spending time with my sons, husband, and our cat and dog. I enjoy taking our dog for hikes, gardening, reading books, and watching hockey.
As a school counselor, my role is to help each of our students reach their fullest potential and be the best version of themselves in all three domains: social, academic and emotional. To ensure that our students receive the support they need to thrive, close collaboration with teachers and families is taking place. This year, the counseling program will continue to offer the following services:
-Monthly classroom lessons focusing on topics such as social-emotional skills, conflict resolution, friendship, personal safety, positive behavior, mindfulness, and habits
-Small group counseling
-Short-term individual counseling
- Coordinate and provide resource, support and information to families
-Collaborate with local community agencies, organizations and individuals
Besides supporting students, my role includes organizing our building’s state testing and being part of the Intervention Assistance Team and Positive Behavior Intervention Team.
