Welcome to Evergreen Local Schools
By Superintendent Eric J. Smola

Welcome to the 2020-2021 school year! What an interesting time we are experiencing as the COVID-19 pandemic continues to grip the world. Even though this is my 25th year in education, 2020 is proving to be a year of “firsts,” and I am certain this year will be like no other.

Aside from our unique circumstances this year, I am honored to begin my third year serving as the superintendent of Evergreen Local Schools. Our District is home to more than 1,200 students who are actively engaged and preparing for their place in our ever-changing world. Our rural school district is staffed with an extraordinary team of 155 faculty and staff members. Together we are committed to honoring our past while providing our current students with excellent instruction and diverse opportunities.

Over the past two years, the District has developed and implemented an all-inclusive strategic plan that clearly identifies our values, defines our vision, and states our passion. Our mission of building on tradition, being committed to excellence, and cultivating the future is our framework for positioning the District as one of Ohio’s excellent school systems. We pride ourselves in preparing our students for college, career, or military service after graduation. We work diligently to provide a financially stable school system while maintaining outstanding educational experiences for our students.

In addition to our amazing students and staff, our district’s success is also the result of our parents and supportive community members that genuinely care about the achievements of all our students. Whether or not you have a child attending our schools, as soon as gatherings are allowed, we encourage you to take advantage of our many events showcasing our students and their talents. We thank you for supporting Evergreen Local Schools.
