TESTING INFORMATION

Please carefully review the following dates and mark your calendars for these important tests. Remember, it is important for students to be well rested and to eat a good breakfast prior to taking any test.

PSAT/NMSQT -- This test is designed for juniors; however, sophomores may

also test. It will be given on Wednesday, October 19 at the high school to any interested student. The cost is $15.00 and payable to the Guidance Office by cash or check made out to Evergreen High School. Juniors who qualify for free or reduced lunch may be able to have this fee waived. All sophomore and junior students will be given a handout with information about the PSAT. The registration deadline is September 16. The test measures verbal and mathematical reasoning skills that are important for success in college. A writing skills component is also included. This test provides practice for the SAT and ACT tests, which are used by colleges for admission purposes. The test also enters juniors into the National Merit Scholarship competition. Information is also available on the guidance website.

ACT -- This test is designed for juniors and seniors who plan to attend college. This test is required by most four-year colleges in order to gain admission. Tests will be administered at various local high schools and colleges. Interested students should stop by the Guidance Office for registration materials and a study guide. Students may also register at: actstudent.org/start. Students need to include the Evergreen High School code of 363380 when they register. Check the registration materials for dates and details. Students are encouraged to take the writing portion of the ACT at least one time. ACT is now requiring that students upload a photo of themselves to the registration website and also provide a photo identification card when they arrive at the test center and their printed admission ticket. Students, who do not have internet access, may pick up paper registration materials in the guidance office. All juniors will be able to take the ACT, online, free of charge at Evergreen in March.

SAT -- This test is also designed for college bound juniors and seniors. It is used for admission purposes by some colleges. Students should check with the college if they are not sure which test is required. SAT has several test dates throughout the year. Students can obtain registration and study materials in the Guidance Office. SAT is now requiring that students upload a photo of themselves to the registration website and also provide a photo identification card and a copy of their admission ticket when they arrive at the test center.

Ohio Graduation Test -- All high school students in grades 12 will need to pass the five sections of the OGT (reading, math, writing, science, social studies) in order to meet graduation requirements. Students in the class of 2017 who did

not pass all sections of the OGT last March will retake those failed sections the week of Oct. 24. One test will be given each day in the following order: Monday - reading, Tuesday - math, Wednesday - writing, Thursday - science, Friday - social studies. Students who still need to pass one or more sections of this test will receive more information in the mail.

Students who do not successfully pass all sections of the OGT in October will have an additional opportunity to test in March. For seniors, this March test will be their last opportunity to test prior to graduation.

Ohio AIR Test --Students enrolled in English/Language Arts 9 and 10, American

History/Government, Algebra 1, Geometry and Biology will take the Ohio Air Test. Tests will be administered online at the end of each semester.
